Performance Class Benchmark

Combine the versatility of a King posted glider with the high performance of a topless glider and you have the one of a kind, Seedwings Spyder.

In 1997 Seedwings first discovered this concept and since then has developed and fine tuned this technology into the new Spyder range of hang gliders. World wide Seedwings is the only manufacturer that produces this unique form of flying wing.

The Spyder is the only king posted glider without one single pitch cable and as standard, inbuilt pitch compensators. This enables optimal gliding at high speed, with a high safety factor.

The pitch set up or 'tuning' consists of two(2) dive sticks per side that hold up a single baton that runs over four(4) top sail batons. Through computer assisted design, the baton profile offers the pilot a comfortable and safe start/landing characteristics. With extensive glide testing and experimentation, we can now say that the new Spyder can, with gliding, easily hold its own against the high performance topless models.

A sink rate of 1,8m with a speed of 70km/h is no coincidence. With years of hang glider production, research and development, Seedwings brings a new glider to the market with which the pilot will be extremely pleased with. Glider perfection and customer satisfaction go hand in hand.

We have invested a lot of valuable time an effort into our sail production. Seedwings has a reputation for one of finest manufactured sails in the world, the new Spyder is a shining example of this. With the spatial bottom sail cut or the new fluid leading edge/tip overlap, the high performance rip stop trailing edge cloth or the state of the art snap baton clips, the complete package makes the Spyder one of the most successful gliders of its time. A clean and tight sail cut with integrated pitch compensators and a newly developed VG make the Spyder an easy but performance enhanced glider.

The standard extra's the Spyder has to offer gives every pilot the comfort to hook in and enjoy a pure flying experience.

  •  Integrated pitch compensators 'Dive Sticks' for a safer flight.

  • A through flowing alunimium crossbar over four(4) top sail battens per side

  • to support a slight positive pitch run with increasing speed.

  • New spatial sail cut over the entire outside wing and bottom sail.

  • 10 flairs between top and bottom sail.

  • Aluninium frame constructed from high quality 7075 alloy material.

  • A completely new designed VG system for light and easy use.

  • Light weight.

  • Adjustable batten click system.
